The redevelopment of the Burlington Town Center will replace the out-of-date suburban mall and bring in its place new housing, new streets, new jobs, increased revenue, and greater opportunity to the heart of the downtown.

The new BTC will also accomplish a long-sought City goal of expanding connections between the iconic Church Street Marketplace and beautiful Lake Champlain. Newly-restored blocks at St. Paul and Pine Streets will allow easier flow of pedestrians, bikers, and vehicles.

272 apartments will bring new residents to the center of Burlington, with 55 units added to the City’s permanent inclusionary zoning rolls. New office, retail and services will support new jobs. The new Burlington Town Center will truly be a place to live, work, eat, shop, learn, and play in a connected, vibrant, and thriving downtown.

New services, such as an early childhood education center and community space, and revitalized retail will serve both onsite residents and visitors.

The project will incorporate state-of-the-art stormwater handling, LEED Gold environmentally-responsible construction, and renewable energy and energy efficiency measures, serving as a lead partner in Burlington’s District Energy initiative.

“We are recreating a community that was taken away more than 40 years ago by restoring significant housing downtown, and we’ll complement this new community with a more relevant and diverse array of shops and services.”
